Lincoln Crime Stoppers is seeking the public’s help in identifying suspects in two separate cases. One involving the vandalizing of public art at a south Lincoln elementary school, and the other involving a trading card shoplifter.
The first case occurred sometime overnight on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Humann Elementary School near 40th Street and Pine Lake Road.
LPD Video Forensics Technician Becky Keller says the lightbulb sculpture outside the school is believed to have been vandalized. The following morning around 11:45am someone reported the damage. Officers canvassed the area for video but none were found.
The lightbulbs, part of the Illuminating Lincoln project, were created by local artists and then placed all around Lincoln to celebrate the anniversary of The Lighthouse, a community program helping kids for the past 35 years.
“We’re really sad to see it was damaged, and we are hopeful someone knows something about it that can help us out,” said Keller.
Photos of the damage are available below.
The second case occurred on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the Walmart near North 27th and Superior Street.
Keller says the store reported an individual walking out with multiple packages of MLB and NBA trading cards. Staff confronted him in the vestibule and were able to retrieve the items, but he took off before police could arrive.
He left in this silver Dodge Journey. Investigators have identified the plate and the registered owner, but that is not believed to be the suspect captured on video.
Photos of the suspect and the vehicle are available below.
