Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) is looking for feedback on proposed changes to the North 84th Street and U.S. Highway 6/Cornhusker Highway intersection.
The planned project would replace the existing traffic signal with a roundabout. Roundabouts typically cost less than signalized intersections and increase safety by providing fewer conflict points, slower speeds, and shorter wait times.
Additional work would include utility relocations, new street lights, traffic monitoring infrastructure and retaining walls. Construction is expected to begin as early as fall 2027 with anticipated completion by fall 2028.
Traffic at the intersection would continue during construction with lane closures controlled by traffic control devices and signs. Full closure of the intersection or certain movements may be required at times. Detours would be provided.
Comments may be submitted to Craig Aldridge, LTU Project Manager, at caldridge@lincoln.ne.gov, 402-416-5349, or mailed to him at 949 West Bond Street, Suite 200, Lincoln, NE, 68521. The deadline to submit comments is July 29.
