A Red Flag warning is in effect today until 8 p.m. for portions of south-central and eastern Nebraska. Conditions are favorable for rapid fire spread and caution should be taken that may lead to fire ignition.
Hazards include wind from the northwest 15 – 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph. Humidity values will be between 15% and 25%. Fire conditions are expected to be the worst during the early evening hours Improving relative humidity and decreasing wind this evening will help conditions improve.
Any fires that start today may rapidly grow and become very difficult to control.
Open burning or other activities that may lead to sparks are not advised.
