LPD Releases Results of Northwest Lincoln Traffic Enforcement Effort

Lincoln Police has released results of an enhanced traffic enforcement project conducted by the Northwest Team in June. Officers worked overtime to specifically address traffic concerns reported by community members.

“A significant number of traffic complaints received by the Northwest Team occur during peak service hours, when officers are often responding to high call volumes,” says Public Information Manager Erika Thomas.   To address that challenge, she says day-shift officers remained on duty after their regular shifts to focus solely on traffic enforcement.

“This strategy allowed second-shift officers to continue responding to calls for service while targeted traffic enforcement is conducted concurrently.” During the enforcement effort, 176 traffic stops were made and 183 citations issued.

Officers ticketed 55 drivers for speeding and issued 13 seatbelt violation citations.  There were 52 citations issued for no registration and 12 for no insurance.  The Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office funded the project.
