A 29-year-old man has been arrested  after two construction workers were struck by a vehicle near South 48th and Sumner just before 5:30 Tuesday afternoon.  The investigation revealed a group of road construction workers were pouring concrete at S. 48th and Sumner.

LPD Lt. Jason Goodwin tells KLIN News a gray 2012 Honda Crosstour was traveling northbound on S. 48th through the construction zone. “The driver hit a 23-year-old Lincoln man who landed on the hood of the SUV.”

Goodwin says the driver continued for about a block before the worker fell off and the driver left the scene.  A second worker was hit by the car but not injured.  Goodwin says the construction worker went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Just before 8:00 p.m. officers located and arrested Alexander Hester.

He was booked into the Lancaster County Jail for 2nd degree assault, attempted 2nd degree assault and failing to stop and render aid.
