The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office issued more than 200 citations and made multiple arrests during a two-week speeding enforcement campaign that concluded Tuesday.

The campaign, part of the national “Speeding Prevention” mobilization sponsored by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office, ran from July 14 to July 29. Deputies conducted saturation patrols in marked cruisers, focusing on speed-related violations and other traffic offenses.

In total, deputies made contact with 347 vehicles, issuing 209 citations and 253 warning or defect cards. Nine individuals were arrested on outstanding warrants and another nine were taken into custody for criminal offenses.

Speeding accounted for the majority of citations (143), with others issued for offenses including DUI (2), driving during suspension (7), registration and insurance violations (32), and seatbelt infractions (4). Deputies also cited drivers for possession of controlled substances, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and underage alcohol possession.

The effort was funded through a mini-grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
