Not surprisingly after No. 1 Nebraska throttled No. 3 Pitt and No. 6 Stanford, three Husker volleyball players earned honors from the Big Ten Conference Tuesday. Rebekah Allick was named Defensive Player of the Week, Bergen Reilly was named Setter of the Week and Victoria Adriano was named Freshman of the Week.
Allick captured Defensive Player of the week after totaling 20 kills and 12 blocks in the Huskers’ two wins last week. She averaged 1.71 blocks per set and hit at a .406 percentage. Reilly averaged 10.86 assists per set, helping Nebraska hit .224 vs. Pitt and .386 against Stanford. The percentage against the Cardinal was the Huskers’ most efficient match against a ranked team since 2016. Meanwhile, Adriano notched six kills and three blocks in her first career start in the season opener against the Panthers.
No. 1 Nebraska is back in action Friday night at Lipscomb. First serve is at 6 p.m. from Nashville, Tenn., with pregame at 5 p.m. on KLIN and B-107.3.
