Bryan Medical Center’s new mobile COVID-19 testing site was rolled out today as staff members participated in a trial setup for what’s expected to be a much needed service.

   John Woodrich

At the daily news briefing Bryan Medical CEO John Woodrich indicated that one of the first stops for the mobile unit would most likely be the Crete Area Medical Center which is part of the Bryan Medical Network.

Woodrich said there has been an increase in the number of positive cases coming from the area and even some COVID-19 positive patients that have been transferred to Bryan Medical in Lincoln.  In addition, the Nebraska National Guard will be testing up to 100 individuals Thursday in Crete and Woodrich said the Bryan mobile unit could be in Crete as well.

Bryan also announced that the hospital has treated at least one patient with convalescent plasma as part of a larger trial they were accepted into.  This adds another type of treatment for extremely ill COVID-19 patients according to Dr Aina Silenieks, a pathologist at Bryan.  She said the plasma came from the New York area and it would be some time before patient results would be available.
