Lincoln Police were called to an apartment building in the 500 block of S 27th Street around 4 a.m. Thursday morning on a trespassing report. The owner said a door to a vacant apartment had been kicked in and there was someone inside. Officers found 32 year old Luis Corral and soon learned he had three outstanding warrants for his arrest. Corral became argumentative and refused to comply with officer instructions. He eventually was taken into custody with no further problems.
Inside the apartment officers found a glass pipe with residue that tested positive for methamphetamine. It was found near where Corral had been seated.
Corral was taken to jail where a corrections staff was assisting him change clothes into jail attire. The officer saw Corral take a small plastic bag from his pocket and put it into his mouth. The officer tried to stop him and grabbed his arm. Corral begin to resist and struggle that resulted with the officer on the ground. That officer was injured and taken to a hospital for treatment for a broken leg.
Officers recovered the plastic bag and the contents will be sent to the state lab for testing.
Corral was arrested for the outstanding warrants, 2 for felony theft and one for felony resisting arrest along with trespassing, assault on an officer and possession of a controlled substance.
