Lincoln Police report they have seen an increase in thefts from gyms while victims are working out.
In each case items were taken from a locker or locker room and in some cases debit cards were immediately used at local businesses. Keys placed on key racks have also been taken and the thieves take their vehicles.
Police have received 48 reports originating from gyms and sports facilities so far this year. In 2020, police took 53 reports.
This is also a reminder for those who keep purses, bags and other valuables inside their vehicle when they are working out to make sure the vehicles are locked. There have been several instances of people rummaging through unlocked vehicles at these facilities.
Lincoln police ask you remember to secure your valuables when leaving them in your vehicle and lock up or keep an eye on belongings in the gym. We want to help prevent you from becoming the next victim.
