This Afternoon and Tonight Northwest winds from 20 to 30 mph this afternoon may gust to over 40 mph at times. The winds will combine with an influx of drier air from the northwest to create very high fire danger conditions, especially in areas with dry grass.
The fire danger is highest mainly west of a line from Pender to Seward.
Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop over northeast Nebraska by 2 to 3 pm, with that activity moving rapidly east and southeast across the area through 7 pm this evening.
The strongest storms will be capable of producing wind gusts of 50 to 60 mph and hail up to dime size. .
The next chance for any storms would be from Saturday into Monday.
