Lincoln Police Officer Tackles Suspect Attempting To Flee On Bicycle

A Lincoln police officer runs down and tackles suspect attempting to flee on a bicycle.

Officer Erin Spilker said officers were called to the 2800 block of Jameson North around 5 am Tuesday after receiving multiple reports of a man stealing from vehicles.

Officers soon observed a man on a bicycle in the area and attempted to make contact, but the man tried to ride away.

“After a short foot chase, the male was tackled from the bicycle and taken into custody,” said Spilker.

18-year-old Jacob Johann was arrested for assault on a police officer, obstructing a police officer and Minor in Possession.

Spilker added items were located in Johann’s backpack that is consistent with having been stolen from vehicles.

An investigation is ongoing.
