A man, his girlfriend and his mother are arrested by police after a scuffle outside a Lincoln motel.

Officer Luke Bonkiewicz says Investigators near Superior and Cornhusker around 8:45 Tuesday noticed a vehicle that had fled from NSP troopers hours earlier parked at the nearby Oasis Inn.

Officers contacted and detained 30-year-old Trenton Ottens and 26-year-old Dymond Casillas.

Bonkiewicz says, after being cooperative initially, Ottens began thrashing around and fighting with officers once placed in handcuffs.

“And while we are fighting with Mr. Ottens, Ms. Casillas persisted in trying to interfere with this arrest,” says Bonkiewicz. “She continued to approach the area where officers were trying to control Ottens and she kept trying to incite Ottens to fight the officers.”

At around the same time, 47-year-old Stacy Ottens (Mr. Otton’s mother) arrived and encouraged Mr. Ottons to resist along with Casillas.

When officers tried to detain Ms. Ottons, she resisted as well.

“It’s at this point that a crowd of approximately 20-30 bystanders gather and they begin taunting the officers and encouraging the three individuals to continue to resist arrest,” says Bonkiewicz.

The crowd drew a large police response.

“At least 21 officers were on scene,” said Bonkiewicz.

Officers located half a gram of cocaine in Ottens’ pocket, as well as $2,022 in cash

Marijuana was also in plain view in the vehicle.

When searching the room Ottens and Casillas were renting, police discovered the pair’s two 8-year-old children, several pit bulls (whose feces was observed throughout the room), 38.8 grams of marijuana, marijuana pipes, THC wax, digital scales, grinders, baggies with a white residue that pre-tested positive for methamphetamine, and a .22 LR bolt-action rifle.

All items were found to be in areas that the children could have accessed.

Officers cited and lodged Trenton Ottens for Possession of a Controlled Substance (2 counts), Resisting Arrest, Child Abuse, and Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person (M).  Officers cited and lodged Casillas for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Obstruction of Government Operations, and Child Abuse.  Officers cited and lodged Stacey Ottens for Obstruction of Government Operations and Resisting Arrest.
