A man believed to be under the influence of hallucinogens is arrested after assaulting an officer.
Officer Erin Spilker said just after 2 a.m Monday, police were sent to a residence in the 5700 block of Saylor Street after a caller reported that a family member, identified as 18-year-old Rodmon Graybeal, had become agitated after taking drugs.
When officers arrived, they found Graybeal had already been restrained by several family members and moved in to assist.
“As officers were putting handcuffs on Graybeal, he became assaultive toward the officers,” said Spilker ” He charged at an officer, tackling them and then biting their hand during the struggle.”
Spilker said that after a lengthy struggle, officers were eventually able to detain Graybeal.
After being medically cleared at a hospital, Graybeal was arrested for two counts of assault on an officer as well as resisting arrest.
The officers’ injuries did not need medical attention.
Spilker added that a family member told officers that Graybeal was under the influence of LSD at the time of the assault.
