A 90-year old man is pulled from a burning vehicle by a fast-acting Lincoln couple.

Lancaster County Chief Deputy Todd Duncan said that around 6 p.m Tuesday, a 31-year-old man and woman traveling near Wittstruck Road and 96th St. noticed a vehicle on fire at the end of a  nearby driveway with an elderly man in the driver’s seat.

Duncan said the citizens pulled over, jumped out of their car, unbuckled the elderly man from the driver’s seat, and pulled him from the blaze.

He adds that by the time the man was pulled to safety, the victim’s vehicle was completely engulfed in flame.

“Really quick-thinking and great work by a couple of good samaritans that probably saved this gentleman’s life,” said Duncan.

No one was injured.

A statement by the victim indicated that he had driven to the end of his driveway at 9005 Wittstruck Road to retrieve his mail and upon re-starting his vehicle, it ignited.

Total damage is estimated at around $8,000
