Large and small scale solar farms can now be built in Lancaster County after zoning changes approved by the county’s planning commission.
“I think what they’ve come up with by and large is a very fair and reasonable set of regulations and the developers will understand them,” David Levy, an attorney representing solar farms told the planning commission.
Farms who produce over 100 kilowatts of power don’t need a permit in industrialized zones but need one in agriculture zones.
Small farms who produce less than 100 kilowatts don’t need a permit in industrialized, agriculture or business zones, but are required to have one in residential zones.
